People Powered Technology

If you have read some of my previous posts, you already know that I am not one to follow conventional wisdom. Like many of my Concurrency colleagues, the idea of following generally accepted theories or beliefs it is not what excites us, and it is certainly not what drives us.

How we create value for our customers is not by following a solution-first approach. But it is more about following a people-first approach.

Let us explore together what I mean by that.

If you’re not leveraging AI yet, you are already behind

If you are not leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), then you must read this. Eventually most, if not all, organizations will adopt some form of advanced analytics powered by big data and statistical models. The question is whether you will wait until it’s almost too late and potentially not survive changes in market sentiment, or whether you will adopt it early and command market sentiment. Analysts predict that consumers will soon prioritize solutions which offer hyper-personalization. This means, not only do you need to know more about your customers, but you need to deliver solutions through a set of experiences which predict what they need. Granted, this relates to consumer facing solutions, but consumers will also prefer solutions which use AI as a form of sustaining innovation to reduce cost or increase capabilities.

Cloud Computing and Cloud Development are entering the second decade

Cloud computing today is much different than it was nine years ago. Not only is the cloud different, but the developers who author code for this environment are different. Nine years ago, if someone came to you and said: “make me a website”, there were only a few ideal ways to do it. Today, they are many ways to do it. In fact, in the cloud alone there are five ways to do the same thing. With Azure the limit of scale of your system will not be Azure, the limit of scale will be you. It will be the choices you made in the design process that affect the scalability of your system.

Why Consumer Experience is Critical to Innovation

The first mistake organizations make is assuming that Digital Transformation, innovation, and disruption are the same thing. More importantly, organizations forget to include consumer experience when planning innovation. Because of this confusion, organizations are finding that their progress with Digital Transformation or DX initiatives has been too slow. A recent IDC report has predicted that by the end of this year, nearly half of organizations will have scaled their DX team. The reason for this scale is that innovation progress has been too slow relative to competitive response.

Is your New Product Development process broken?

When was the last time you spoke to a customer? The answer to that question typically depends on which business unit you operate in. This means there are barriers within the business on understanding what the customer needs. Even though you already have solutions for your customers; more than likely, new innovation exists to meet additional unmet needs. These unmet needs, if addressed, could allow you to enter new markets or increase the margins of existing products. What happens then if technology is required to meet those needs and the most technically capable people in the organization do not work close with customers?

Evaluating Suitability and Viability for Blockchain Solutions

Is blockchain a suitable solution for a particular business need? If it’s suitable in a business sense, is it technically viable? Should you build a blockchain solution, or be ready to integrate with a blockchain network built elsewhere in your ecosystem of partners and providers?

Working with OneDrive Files Restore

Your files are important and the ability to recover them in case of an issue is essential. Recently Microsoft has provided the ability to restore your entire OneDrive to a point in time. There has been the ability to restore single files if they have been deleted via your Recycle Bin but this does not cover things like corruption or changes in the file. Files Restore in OneDrive within Office 365 changes this.

Two big changes coming to SharePoint in 2018

2017 has come to an end and just like a season finale to a good TV series on Netflix, Microsoft has left us ready for more. There was a whirlwind of changes and enhancements to SharePoint, OneDrive, and the overall collaboration space in Office 365 in the past 12 months. The amount of new things in 2017 was staggering but Microsoft left off with some exciting things coming early in 2018. In this post, I picked 3 of the biggest changes coming to SharePoint Online in Q1/Q2 of 2018.
