I spend a lot of time working with clients on Hyper-V deployments. In that time, I find that I need to analyze current deployments and validate new deployments. In many cases, much of this is manual and we are dependent on checklists and PowerShell scripts. Also, I've been asked by clients, how do we operationally validate our own systems later down the road? In order to address this, Microsoft is releasing the Hyper-V Best Practices Analyzer!!
The Hyper-V BPA will provide IT administrators with the capability to validate their Hyper-V infrastructure for known issues, especially as relates to items like snapshots, CPU allocation, memory allocation, and other items.
The validator doesn't include everything, but it represents a good start that will allow for the identification of key issues that exist in many Hyper-V deployments. Here is the list of core validations in the BPA (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941122(WS.10).aspx
