Configuration Manager 2012 Secondary Site Installation Error

Author by Matt Boudro

I recently ran into an error installing a System Center Configuration Manager 2012 secondary site when push installed from a central or primary site. Specifically, the error occurs during the prerequisite verification process of the secondary site installer. The code refers to a mismatch between the NETBIOS name and the FQDN of the secondary site server.

During the troubleshooting process, I could not identify any issue with either the NETBIOS name, the FQDN or the associated DNS entries. To resolve this issue, add the central and primary site computer accounts to local administrators on the secondary site server. After doing so, you will be able to complete the SCCM secondary site installation.

I’m not sure why the error code refers to the FQDN and NETBIOS names, but the above solution solves the issue.
